Version History

When working with Serial Box 2 files there are several items of information that the program wants to dynamically load from the internet. This requires an active internet connection. The program connects to the Macupdate.com server to gather the information. No personal or other information is transmitted when doing so. The reader imitates a webbrowser when it downloads the information. It is possible to switch off this functionality in the preferences. Ofcourse the dynamic information will also not be loaded. Fields that cannot be loaded will be showing "n/a". Information that the program loads from the internet is:

the application icon

the latest available version

the download size of the program

the rating

the price of the program (and license)

screenshot

URLs (URLs are also available from the Serial Box 2 file)

The first time iSerial Reader wants to connect to the internet you will be asked for authorization. If authorization is denied the program will not connect to the internet.

If automatic downloading of information has been switched off a button will appear when browsing applications to download this information manually on an application-to-application basis. Note: if automatic downloading has been switched off but the above mentioned information is still being displayed this is because it is cached.

Loading the information from the internet can take a few seconds. While the program is busy downloading the internet busy icon is showing. You don't have to wait for it to finish. You can select another application and the reader program will simply cancel the download.
