I'm getting close to having a species profile page for every bird
on the list, but there are still some new birds that need to be added
too, especially after I've discovered the variety of species at the
VA (Veteran's Affairs) Center and the L.A. National Cemetery (just
west of Veteran Ave.). I've
been trying to only make a profile page once I've gotten photos of
that bird, and there are only nine six known birds left that
I've yet to photograph (Band-Tailed Pigeon (most
wanted), Black-headed
Grosbeak (most
wanted),
Bullock’s
Oriole (most wanted),
Oak Titmouse [recently got some from Holmby Park east of campus],
Rufous Hummingbird [Bobby Walsh found a male one in the Botanical
Garden and I bagged some shots of him], Sharp-Shinned Hawk, Tree Swallow, White-crowned
Sparrow [have some usable pics from down near Culver City, but
ones on campus would be nicer], and Yellow Warbler).
I
also plan to have at least three more choices for list viewing: "By
Location," "By
Color,"
"Taxonomically," and "Native
vs. Non-Native." If you've seen a bird that you're really
stuck on identifying, and cruising the lists here doesn't do it, you
might try Whatbird.com for a
different approach to IDing that could be helpful. Oh, and remember:
I gladly welcome anyone to submit photos of their own (which I will
post and give credit for), and/or share bird sightings/questions. Just
head over to the forum.
Here are the bird list options we currently
have here:
